The Tallahassee Motor Hotel was built in 1944 by Gilbert Chandler, Sr.
Accompanying note: "Gilbert Chandler Jr. emerges from a basement under one section of the Tallahassee Motor Hotel, North Monroe street, where Civil Defense officials say 500 people could be sheltered from radioactive fallout. Gilbert Chandler Sr. said he is getting prices on a wall that would close up one exposed side and on necessary sanitary and ventilating facilities to convert it into a shelter."
