A CARD.
Since Rev. H. C. Bailey has taken exception to my sentiment upon the Negro problem as delivered to my congregation and subsequently extracted and published in the city appears, and in his pulpit last Sabbath took occasion to ridicule me for the same, branding me a man unworthy the society of the race, and declaring that he would not be seen again no the street with me, I suggest that he would meet me in public discussion. let us come before the bar of public opinion, for it is time to define some course as to the best to pursue. if as a minister of God he can see any good in the colored man's political anathemas, let him show it. If I am wrong for trying to get the race out of politics, and thereby out of danger and destruction, let him show it by reason, and not by wrath. if he sees it best for the Negro to continue to abuse and yell after some hot-headed politician to the offense of the very people upon who he is and is likely to remain, let him show it. If he thinks that instead of preaching peace and reconciliation he can do more good by leading the ignorant masses into political strife, bloodshed and wholesale slaughter, let him show it THURSDAY NIGHT, OCTOBER 24th, at the Opera House, at which time we will meet and join issue. To defray the necessary expense an admission fee of 10c will be charged. My position is that the Negro must give up o politics. Reserved seats for the ladies.
